FAQ

Questions we get at 2am

The things people actually ask on the phone, answered the way we answer them on the phone.

Cost and payment

How much is it?

Service starts at $130 for a standard call inside our coverage area. A replacement battery is quoted separately because it depends entirely on the vehicle. You hear the total on the phone before anyone is dispatched.

How do I pay?

Cash or Zelle at the roadside once the work is done. We do not take cards, so it is worth knowing that before we arrive.

Is there a call out fee on top?

No. Travel inside our coverage area is included in the price you are quoted, and there is no core charge for the old battery.

Do I need a membership?

No. There is nothing to join and no annual fee. You call, you get a price, you decide.

Coverage and timing

How fast can you get to me?

It depends on where you are, the traffic, the weather, and how many jobs are already running. We give you a real estimate on the phone rather than a number printed on a web page, and we call you if it changes. We do not publish a guaranteed arrival time because nobody can honestly guarantee one across two states.

Do you cover my area?

We cover all five boroughs of New York City and much of northern and central New Jersey. Every area page lists the ZIP codes we normally work in. If yours is not there, call anyway and we will tell you straight away.

Are you really open at night?

Yes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the phone is answered by a person rather than a machine that takes a message.

Can you reach me in a parking garage?

Usually. Ceiling height is the deciding factor, so tell us the structure and the level. Gated or permit only lots need access arranged before we set off rather than at the barrier.

The work itself

What if it is not the battery?

We test the battery and the charging system before we sell you anything. If the fault is the alternator, the starter, or something mechanical, we tell you that and point you at a workshop. We are a mobile battery and roadside service, not a full repair shop.

Will I lose my radio presets and settings?

We use a memory saver during the swap so stored settings survive the battery being disconnected. Some vehicles still need a short relearn afterwards, and we tell you if yours is one of them before we start.

Do you work on hybrids and electric cars?

Yes, on the 12V battery, which is the one that leaves the car unable to start or wake up. The traction pack is a workshop job and we say so.

Does a new battery need registering?

On most start stop vehicles, yes. Skip it and the car keeps charging to the old battery's profile, which shortens the life of the new one. We do the registration as part of the job.

Is the new battery under warranty?

Every battery we supply carries the manufacturer warranty that comes with it, on the manufacturer terms. Keep the receipt and call the same number if anything goes wrong.

Do I need to be with the car?

Someone needs to give us access to the vehicle and the keys. If that will not be you, tell the dispatcher when you call.
